BUSHkids 2016-17 Annual Report

Mount Isa Border Ride Saturday 5 August

Events snapshot

BUSHdance Warwick Saturday 12 August A wonderful event arranged by FoBk Warwick: more than 100 excited revellers, mums, dads and children, attended the event (see video on our Facebook page!) . Dancing, raffles and good tucker helped the night jig along and we were very grateful for the support of local businesses, especially: ● Keith and Karen Clarke (who again donated the venue for free) Charity Challenge National Golf Series sponsored by Commonwealth Bank Monday 19 June ‘The golf game that CAN make a difference’ – thanks to all who attended the exciting golf event at Indooroopilly Golf Club. CBA’s vision is to raise over $100K to make a difference to six state-based charities that focus on the wellbeing of children and their families. The event raised $16,686 and the proceeds were split between beneficiaries BUSHkids and Aunties+Uncles. Border Ride is an annual 205km cycle from Mount Isa to Camooweal and this year our Mount Isa team members Danica and Sarah manned the ‘fuel stop’ at the 150km mark, providing water, fresh fruit and sweets for the riders – a fantastic opportunity to promote BUSHkids to a group of 20 riders all from across Queensland. Our support resulted in $1,000 from the funds raised on the day being donated to BUSHkids Mount Isa!

Bundaberg Barefoot Bowls Day Sunday 2 July

Family fun day with raffles and prizes: the ABC Wide Bay team was the inaugural winner on the day.Congratulations to FoBk Bundaberg on this successful community fun day, which raised a lot of awareness and provided a fun opportunity for families and supporters – even our ECEI team members, who took home the ‘wooden spoon’ award!

BUSHconnect Emerald Saturday 22 July The FoBk group joined with Emerald

Community Kindy Open Day for ‘Party in the Park’. BUSHkids staff and volunteers provided the community with a ‘Taste of BUSHkids’ and the Rotary crew hosted a BBQ and popcorn stall for a gold coin donation to BUSHkids. A total of $557.25 was raised. Well done! Read and Grow sessions including song, story and an extension activity were provided from two chosen books. Small groups of children joined us for stories and enjoyed making bear faces and animal stick puppets. The new ASS2S tip sheets were very popular and acted as a talking point with parents.
