Close the Gap Awards

Eligibility All members of the QFES workforce, paid and volunteer, are eligible for nomination for this award. Award design Awards are in the form of a framed certificate.

Closing the Gap is a government initiative that aims to reduce Indigenous disadvantage with respect to health, education, employment and social justice. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) supports and endorses this innovative program and recognises the significant work and outcomes within the department that have contributed to Closing the Gap.

QFES Honours and Awards

The Commissioner, QFES will call for nominations to coincide with National Close the Gap Day (this is generally the third Thursday in March). Nominations can be made for the categories of Individuals, Teams or Partnerships. All Close the Gap awards must align to a minimum of one of the Strategic Directions in the QFES Strategic Plan. Nomination forms are to be endorsed by the applicable Assistant Commissioner or Executive Director and forwarded to the QFES Honours and Awards Committee for review and recommendation to the Commissioner, QFES for consideration and final approval.
