QUEENSLAND'S GERMAN CONNECTIONS - PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE

Greetings: Wolfgang at your service

Our menu contains traditional dishes, including Wiener Schnitzel, a dish that can be traced back 250 years to Count Metternich. We feature Kaiserschmarren mit Zwetschgenröster served on Austrian Lillien porcelain in honour of Austria’s last Emperor, and our coffees are served in the traditional Viennese way: on a tray with a glass of water. Our breads and pastries include strudels and other Austrian home-style cooking, but we also cater to a spectrum of local customers and businesses with sandwiches, fruit platters and ‘Aussie’ meat pies on K&K’s open, shady decks or delivered to local industry in my little gadget car with the Austrian eagle and its ‘Vienna’ number plate. I feel it was destiny which brought me to Brisbane. My apprenticeship in an old, proud capital, upheld by 1000 years of tradition, has served me well in this young, expanding city now on the world culinary map and said to have more coffee shops than Italy.

I am re-visiting my heritage and integrating it with local tastes and ingredients to create a business, a culture and a palette of flavours that are uniquely and characteristically Brisbane. I love it. I could not imagine myself doing anything else. So Servus – greetings, I am at your service – and Mahlzeit – enjoy your meal! kandk.com.au
