QUEENSLAND'S GERMAN CONNECTIONS - PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE

Rohstoffe sind Zukunft. Begleiten Sie uns.

At Bamford and Wolfram, the operations retain some of their former under ground work ings, in silent testament to the mining

Germany is investing in Queensland’s future through learning from the past, bringing new technologies and industry expertise to maximise the promise of known resources. Deutsche Rohstoff AG (DRAG), founded in 2006, and subsidiary Deutsche Rohstoff Australia Pty Ltd (DRAU) are leading the way. The company’s focus is on gold, oil and gas and high tech metals such as tin, tungsten, and rare earths. All DRAG projects are located in politically-stable countries and the business concept is based on reinvigorating deposits which have previously been explored. DRAU began acquiring Queensland mining leases in

history of the A t h e r t o n Tablelands. At the outset of the 20th century, Wolfram

and Bamford, together with nearby Mount Carbine mine, accounted for 75% of Australia’s tungsten output, making Queensland the world’s largest producer, and Germany its biggest trading partner.

2008, with the first project to be developed the existing gold ore processing facility in Georgetown, 410km west of Cairns, with its nearby deposits. After extensive refurbishment, it produced its first gold in 2010, prompting the Australian Mining Monthly to name it ‘The Dream’.

With Wolfram Camp Mining, a 100% subsidiary of DRAG, that historic trading partnership has been renewed in the 21st century.

We see great potential to diversify and extend the world’s sources of such high-tech metals and there is no doubt that ‘looking back’ can deliver valuable opportunities for moving forward. Especially with partners like Queensland.

DRAG took on a second Australian project, this time in tungsten and molybdenum, by acquiring the internationally-known Wolfram Camp deposit, which was refurbished and brought back into production in 2012. A third valuable site was the mining complex and deposit in Bamford Hill, located about 25km south of Wolfram, and unique in its proven deposits of tungsten, molybdenum and bismuth in the one location.

Today, the present revisits the past. Tomorrow promises a rich future. Join us on the journey.
