QUEENSLAND'S GERMAN CONNECTIONS - PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE

Technology for a sustainable future

The Sector comprises the Divisions Rail Systems, Mobility and Logistics, Low and Medium Voltage, Smart Grid, and Building Technologies.

This commitment includes our Green City Index research programme which examines the extent of environmental problems that our cities face, from air pollution to waste water management and the loss of green spaces. Sustainable development promotes greater use of alternative energy sources and more energy efficient buildings and transport, measures that reduce congestion and CO 2 emissions, recycling of water and waste and the use of vegetation to filter pollution and capture CO 2 . The seriousness of the challenges facing cities has given rise to the concept of a Green City, one that is able to sustain itself and support its residents into the future. The Green City Index for Australia and New Zealand builds and expands upon the success of Indexes completed for Europe, Latin America, Asia, US and Canada, Germany and Africa. The findings of this study, launched in late 2012, include the cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Auckland and Wellington in New Zealand.
