QUEENSLAND'S GERMAN CONNECTIONS - PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE
“The entertainment event of the decade – two weeks of world class performances.”
This book had to close for its pre-press preparation and printing as the ‘Hamburg Season’ was unfolding over several glorious weeks at QPAC (Queensland Performing Arts Centre) in South Bank, but we could not let this unique, and Australian-exclusive, program of events pass without acknowledgement in this publication. As well as a testament to the foresight and hard work of people like Leo Schofield and the many others who have brought this program to fruition, its event is a clear reflection of the depth and strength of cultural connections between Queensland and Germany, and fitting that Hamburg, which appointed the first German diplomatic representation to Queensland almost 160 years ago, should visit us with such treasures in 2012, the 60th anniversary year of relations between Australia and Germany.
