SQUADRON AWARDS 2021

AWARDS & RESULTS

P/Cdre Greg Clarke Greg joined the Squadron in 1978 and, in serving six years as a Flag Officer, was Commodore from 2011 to 2013. He spent many years on the Sailing Committee from 1994 and continues to enjoy success on the racing course with many podium finishes. Greg has also been a Board member of Yachting Queensland for almost 20 years and is a driving force behind the annual Property Industry Foundation WAGS fundraising day.

P/Cdre Steven Morris Steve joined the Squadron in 1969 and, also in six years as a Flag Officer, was Commodore from 1996 to 1998. He was a member of the Entertainment Committee in 1984 and also served on the Sailing Committee, joining General Committee in 1989. During this time and up to his appointment as Commodore, Steve served for periods on both committees. In 1991 he joined the Youth Committee. As a lawyer, Steve has also assisted our Honorary Solicitor on occasions.

Lynne Jackson Lynne began working at the Squadron in January 1987 as a permanent part- time receptionist, a role which grew to Executive Officer over these 30-plus years of service. Lynne was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015 which also granted her membership of the Squadron. Her dedication to her job and the Squadron during this time has been acknowledged with this Life Membership Award.

CLUB MEMBER OF THE YEAR

Noel Paterson Noel has been a Squadron member for more than 56 years and was awarded Life Membership in 1996. He is a fierce competitor having represented our club in state, national and international yachting events during this time. He has also had intimate involvement with many class associations over many years. All this can be very time-consuming as you can well imagine but he has also managed to be a constant contributor to our club. He has sat on many committees, is still a member of the Sailing Committee, and has been a member of General Committee, willing to put back into the club from which he derives so much enjoyment. Most recently, he has been instrumental in facilitating the refurbishment of many of our club assets.

Under his direction and talent, our Elliotts and Shark Cats have received a long-overdue makeover. He has encouraged like-minded volunteers to join his team in the ‘Men’s Shed’ to assist with maintenance where needed, but more importantly to provide a venue for the development of camaraderie within our membership.
