“In fact, I believe one of the liveaboard members out on Marina 2 had quite a lengthy briefing chat with one of our patrol team at 11:30 one night a few months ago,” Gillian recalls. “Our trusted people are a good fit wherever we place them operationally and RQYS, like our many other clients, is supported with our experienced breadth and depth of resources and responsiveness,” she says, with deserved professional pride. “If Beth and the RQ community notice and report any changes on the grounds or around the marina, GMR can adapt and respond immediately: we have only to look at our patrol reports and guard logs to reinforce why GMR also stands for ‘Get More Results’.

Those points are underscored by Gillian: “we’ve definitely ‘surged’ our RQYS service levels over the past 12 months, and our direct links – in addition to our 24/7 control centre contacts – have together meant we’re even better placed to respond to any urgent call-outs.” Before anything might come to that, of course, there’s a significant degree of proactive prevention at work, not all of which may be visible to members. “Our RQYS patrols are a dynamically- changing roster,” Gillian says with deliberate vagueness (albeit also with a well-timed snap of the fingers for added emphasis), “and we’re staying longer on the property and venturing further around the marina and hardstands on a random basis.

“John is very good, recording everything in real time back-to-base and for passing details on to the police as needed. If there’s a call-out, he knows the RQYS grounds and marina extremely well (as do all our team members) and can drive straight to the relevant marina finger or identified part of the grounds. Nothing is too much trouble for that man – he really loves his job and he really loves doing it at RQYS,” says Gillian.
