RQYS Mainsheet 2021

Power Cruising Group

REPORTS

After several attempts to get to Days Gutter (again cancelled due to weather), seven boats finally made it there in May for an enjoyable and eventful weekend. COVID restrictions and weather again forced a postponement of our combined Power and Sail Christmas in July event, finally held on 25th September, with the weekend Pirate theme and “Bad Santa” gift exchange dinner being truly memorable. October saw a leisurely cruise up the Brisbane River to the Joseph Brady Park at Barellan Point at the Bremer River intersection, and a really relaxed Labour Day long weekend. anniversary running of the Goodwill Cup Navigation event between the Squadron and Southport Yacht Club resulted in RQYSretaining the coveted trophy again, despite spirited competition. As noted a few pages earlier, on Saturday 6th November the 60th

Despite the interruptions and many frustrations of COVID lockdowns, we have managed to run a number of cruises throughout the year, with camaraderie and having fun on the water together being key objectives. Thanks are due to the volunteer cruise captains, as well as the unofficial photographers/Facebook admins, Jan Glancy and Jan Ralph, for their help and assistance. However it’s the members of the group and their support that is appreciated, making the group what it is. Special thanks go to the Sail Cruising Group team. Their leadership and contribution to our combined cruising activities has indeed been significant – particularly the recent cruise north – and we look forward to spending more time together on the water. If you are not a member of the Power Cruising Group and own a powerboat, complete the online form on the club website and come have some fun! rqys.com.au > CRUISING > POWERBOAT CRUISING GROUP >
