GBRMPA Zoning All GBRMPA zones contribute to the protection of the Reef. The level of protection increases from the General Use Zone up to the most restrictive Preservation Zone . Each zone has different rules for the activities that are allowed, the activities that are prohibited and the activities that require a permit. Become familiar with the GBRMPA Zoning Maps and how to interpret them . For the zones in the Southern Great Barrier Reef Islands refer to Map 18 for the Capricorn Bunker Group .
