Our branches at Thallon/Daymar and Dirranbandi were successful with grant applications to the Gambling Community Benefit Fund to upgrade their halls. Roma Branch funded the installation of solar panels to their purpose-built hall. Our assets are in fine shape indeed. Southern Region branches joined together to promote Country Kitchens and QCWA at a Back to School event at St George, and later a Wellbeing Day at Thallon. All branches have held International Day luncheons, and our area schools participated in the Lithuanian competition. It was interesting to discover so many interesting facts about this ancient country. Our Division Treasurer, Victoria Nancarrow, was instrumental in QCWA achieving Queensland Great status this year: she is definitely our ‘ideas person’! St George branch has been very active promoting QCWA via Friendship Days with interesting guest speakers, while Mitchell members attend the bakery each morning to talk with the locals and hand out PRCF information. The old asbestos roof at Melody Lodge was removed and replaced with Colorbond roofing, giving the units a new lease of life; general maintenance has taken place when required. Then there were major plumbing issues, so hopefully the stormwater should now escape with ease! Toogoolawah property was sold in 2018 and all our buildings have had their five-year asbestos check and insurance valuation completed. All are a credit to the branches in maintaining these to a very high standard. Our halls/rooms are hired to many clubs, groups, for meetings, different crafts, card days, wakes, birthday parties and dances. The Southern Region Conference was very successful in creating friendships knowledge about QCWA and finan- cially. We thank our sister branches and all members of West Moreton for their support that has enabled us to have a very happy memory of this event. Our State Public Speaking contestant Mrs Gail Neville’s topic ‘In My Garden’ had us in fits of laughter, and she tied for second place: well done, Gail! A Treasurer’s Workshop conducted by State Secretary Marion Vannucci helped members gain knowledge in what, where and how to make this role easier. Nine members attended the President’s Workshop held in Toowoomba QCWA Rooms. Two Ipswich members took part in the Country Kitchens Oak Tree Home workshop. Dirranbandi, Amby and Roma branches seem to be regularly catering for one group or another, and seeing their halls utilised by third parties, which is great. All branches participate in their local Shows, with many members exhibiting in the Pavilion displays. These are an excellent awareness-raising opportunities for QCWA. Members have attended the 2018 Conference, the International Weekend, the Southern Region Meeting and the ACWW Conference, as well as a training day with State President Christine King. Each of these events offered different and interesting information access for the participants.

Branches in the Division are following Country Kitchens guidelines by having their menus at meetings taste-test- ed. During the Christmas Season each branch will be doing their own thing in their own communities which are very welcomed and supported by the public. We are looking for a much-needed break to spend time with our families and friends. The Division has supported many efforts—including the Public Rural Crisis Fund and International—with donations and equipment. Welcome to our new members: may your time with us be very rewarding. To Treasurer Mrs Colleen Phipps, you have made this role look like melted cheese. But we do know you have had some ‘hair-pulling moments’ and you come up smiling. We thank you. Vice-President Barbara Constable and International Officer Janelle Cole, the time you give to these roles is appreciated. To one and all I thank you for your guidance and smiles; especially to Gail Neville.
