Principal activities The principal activities of the Association during the financial year were:

- Empowering and inspiring women through friendship, education, service and advocacy.

- Continuing to provide activities for the communities in which they live in social and various skills i.e. handcraft, knitting, crochet and cookery.

- Raising funds to assist local community and for Division and State projects.

- Supporting rural and local people during the year through the Public Rural Crisis Fund by assisting with payments for outstanding accounts, store credit and food vouchers. - Encouraging Branches and Divisions to have Young Leader Groups to train young ladies with the skills for running meetings and craft. - Making Branch halls, particularly in rural and remote areas, available for hire and to be used by many visiting doctors, dentists and various other services to assist the community. - Rationalising the Association’s extensive property portfolio to improve opportunities and optimise earning capacity to achieve objectives. A number of properties have been sold, some repaired with more awaiting renovations in the coming year. During the financial period the Association, through the Public Rural Crisis Fund, received a significant level of funds in relation to the Drought Appeal activities supported by a number of corporate, Government and private sources. These funds have been and continue to be subsequently distributed by QCWA to applicants by way of bank account transfers and store gift cards with no physical cash being exchanged. A concerted effort has been made by the State Executive Board this financial year to ensure that any property disposals have been realised at their achievable market value, that any property acquisitions have been necessary and the benchmark has been raised to ensure this happens with all Queensland Country Women’s Associations properties now and in the future. The Board has endeavoured to maintain a more realistic approach to the disposal and acquisition of our properties, and this has resulted in a favourable outcome, in direct contrast to previous years. Moving forward we will continue to make solid financial decisions with regards to our property movements and our due diligence and governance has resulted in a Net Profit of $810,392, a net profit was recorded for each and every property disposed of. These properties were Cairns – Net Profit $675,071, Midge Point – Net Profit $92,763, Toogoolawah – Net Profit $35,559 and Warra – Net Profit - $7,000. The Midge Point property was the first property to utilize the option of freeholding their land using RSL funds resulting in another favourable outcome. - Increasing our membership as we head towards our 100 years.
