RQYS MAINSHEET 2023
Sharing the Pathway The sport of sailing and the boating lifestyle can take on a variety of forms. Whether dinghy sailing, offshore racing, cruising or powerboating, getting “on water” is a rewarding individual experience and a terrific activity to share with family and friends. The Squadron’s well-trodden pathways program can take sailors from Tackers in an Opti to the world stage at the Olympics. For families looking for a less competitive and more social way to enjoy the boating lifestyle, Yachtshare can be the ideal next step. What is Shared Boating and Syndicated Ownership? Yachtshare offers a shared boating program that is true to its word. Like-minded individuals share resources, knowledge, experience and adventure with a shared desire to be on the water by sail or by power. At the core of any shared boating program, shareowners share the cost of purchasing, owning and maintaining a yacht. At Yachtshare, we take things a step further and encourage shareowners to participate and collaborate at WAGS and other local regattas to learn sailing tips from their fellow co-owners. Yachts in the Yachtshare fleet venture north to the Great Barrier Reef during the winter. Owners share the adventure of a lifetime with bluewater passages, Whitsunday cruising and magical sunsets in idyllic remote locations.
Shared boating offers a pathway to get on the water for all kinds of sailors. Pathways for Families
Boating families might become involved with sailing and boating through dinghy racing or trailer boating. As the family grows, a bigger boat is desirable for all family members to enjoy being on the water together. A large cruising yacht or catamaran can be a significant investment in time and money. Because all the hard work of owning a boat is taken care of by Yachtshare, families can maximise their time away from the marina and enjoy quality time sailing and boating together
without all the cost and hassle. Pathways to Cruising
If you’ve ever watched a YouTube sailing channel and have the slightest interest in sailing, you would have dreamed of sailing off into the sunset on your own cruising yacht. By purchasing a share, you can learn to sail and develop your nautical skills incrementally without going into the deep end of boat ownership. A share in a boat will allow sampling of the experience without making the enormous investment required for a liveaboard cruising yacht. Pathways for the New Sailor Boat sharing offers a safe and affordable way to get started in yachting. Yachtshare provides training and support throughout the ownership period. Our focus is on building confidence and competence for all skippers and crew, and the Yachtshare team supports owners at all times with boat operation and navigational assistance. Many of our shareowners go on to complete advanced levels of certification such as RYA Yachtmaster and commercial Master qualifications. Pathways for the Experienced Sailor At the other end of the spectrum, experienced sailors and boat owners can also leverage the benefits of shared boating. Having owned a boat, experienced sailors already know the cost and time required to maintain and fix a boat. We take away all that hassle so they can enjoy more time and water and
less time in the engine bay and bilge. Pathways for everyone
Regardless of your sailing knowledge and experience, Yachtshare and shared boating provide an ideal pathway to get on the water with family and friends.
