The New Year began with our Branch Annual Meetings closely followed by the Southern Region Conference in Southport. The Division participated in the ‘Jazz and Jumpers’ event with our food stall at the markets. Thank-you to Mrs Celine Stephens and her assistants. While attending the Texas Branch Annual Meeting, Mrs Margaret Grayson received notification that the Today Show would be broadcasting from Warwick the following day, focusing on the drought. Channel 9 ’s Karl Stefanovic interviewed Margaret about the impact of the drought and how the QCWA was assisting the community. At the same time, the QCWA Drought Appeal was launched in association with the Queensland Government and Channel 7 . In August the Division International Day was held in the Condamine Valley/Warwick rooms and was a wonderful success. Thank-you to the Division International Officer Mrs Michele Slater for her enthusiasm and knowledge. During September we attended two Drought Forums, several Interagency Meetings and five ‘10 Minutes with a Master’ sessions all held by Southern Downs Regional Council . In January, our members attended the Pub Choir Event in Warwick Town Hall to raise money for drought relief; we raised $6,000 for our night’s effort! Border Division branches have raised more than $55,000 over the last year which has been sent through to State Office for PRCF distribution. Our Division Finals day was truly wonderful. The Cunningham is a credit to the members and looks better every time I go there. Well done to all those who entered competitions and congratulations to the winners! Seven members joined the Lithuania International Study Weekend and 13 members attended the Southern Region Conference in Ipswich in May.

Six branches have received grants this year towards necessary repairs and improvements to our halls. There has been representation at Stanthorpe, Allora and Warwick Shows, showcasing Country Kitchens as well as workshops in Oak Tree and Blue Care . Well done to our CK Facilitators! With five Facebook pages in Border Division, it’s proving that social media is the way to go in getting the wonderful name of QCWA out there. I congratulate Jenny Whitsed on her role as administrator. We have had 14 new members this year. I would like to thank the many members who have mentored and imparted their knowledge to me, enabling me to carry on in this position, because without all of you I would not have been able to do it. I would sincerely like to thank all members for your friendship, fellowship, kindness, humility and humour because this is what makes it all worthwhile. I would also like to thank my wonderful executive staff for their tireless work, long hours spent and all their help over the last year.
